North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development holds Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services conference

Efforts to steer Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services to greater heights will be experienced as the North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be hosting a 3-day annual conference at Rustenburg, Orion Country Lodge, from Wednesday, 20 to Friday, 22 November 2013.

About three hundred Agricultural Extension and Advisory Officers employed by the department, renowned experts in the extension profession from institutions of higher learning and from the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will attend the conference.

Themed, towards a professional extension and advisory services that contributes to North West province’s economic growth and development, the conference will see officers discussing matters relating to the performance of extension service in the province, challenges and opportunities facing extension, and the use of information communication technology (ICT) in empowering extension officers to provide farmers with  best and relevant advices.

The MEC for North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ms Desbo Mohono will address the Agricultural Extension Officers during the first day of the conference.

To acknowledge improved performance within the Extension profession, best performers will be presented with awards at a gala dinner to be hosted on Thursday, 21 November.
