North West agricultural Ccolleges confer 38 national diplomas

The two agricultural colleges in the North West Province will confer 38 National Diplomas in Agriculture during a combined annual summer graduation ceremony that will take place on Friday, 6 December 2013, at the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture’s Alex Holm Hall. The graduation ceremony will be addressed by Premier Thandi Modise who will be joined by the MEC for Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Desbo Mohono.

Of the 38 graduands, 31 were registered at the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture while seven are from the Taung Agricultural College. Through an intensive three-year mixed farming programme offered at these colleges, the graduands were exposed to a combination of theory and hands-on training, which prepared them to enter into the dynamic world of agriculture.

MEC Mohono says the department is pleased by the rising number of young females qualifying as professionals in the field of Agriculture, which she reckons must be seen as a solid response to agricultural transformation. The total number of females who graduated last year was 12, and this number has increased to 15 this year.
