The Gauteng Department of Sport, Art, Culture and Recreation will hold auditions for Indigenous gospel choirs at the Museum Park, Pretoria on 20 October 2013. The chosen groups will participate at the regional festival in November.
The initiative is part of efforts to promote, preserve and support this heritage practiced by different township communities. The Indigenous gospel music, also known as "clap and tap" has been part of communities for a long time. It was made famous by groups including Barorisi ba Morena, Scrapyard and many others.
Choirs will be registered at the venue.
