Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe to lead the closing ceremony of the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence against Women and Children Campaign

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe will officially close the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign in Bushbuckridge Municipality on Monday.

The yearly campaign which kick-started on 25 November is characterised by numerouos activities aimed at heightening awareness around the abuse of women, children and people living with disabilities. The campaign ends on 10 December 2012, a day that has been declared International Human Rights Day.

During this campaign, government strengthens existing partnerships and collaborates with non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and traditional leadership in order to curb the abuse of women, children and people living with disabilities.
