Minister Xingwana addresses different faiths on the Bill of responsibilities as part of the 16 Days Campaign for no Violence against Women and Children

The Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Ms Lulu Xingwana in partnership with the National Religious Council  will address  different faiths on the Bill of responsibilities  as part of the 16 days campaign of  No Violence Against Women and Children under the theme “Vikela Mzansi – Kwanele!: Communities United in preventing violence against women and children”. 

The programme is scheduled to take place from 29 November to 1 December.

The 16 Days Activism Campaign on No Violence against Women is an annual awareness raising campaign observed globally. The campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December 2013.  

The objectives for the 2013 Campaign is to:

  • Strengthen partnerships and collaboration with NGOs and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) – including those that target and involve men and boys for prevention and rehabilitation - faith-based organisations, traditional leadership and healers  as well as the business sector  in crafting a coordination
  • Rally partners  the strengthen the pillars of the  365 Days National Action Plan – especially the prevention pillar;
  • Encourage community involvement in initiatives to combat crimes against women and children; and
  • Communicate government’s substantive programmes and priority actions towards ending women and child abuse.

Minister Xingwana will deliver the keynote address.
