Minister Thandi Modise delivers the policy and budget vote of the Department of Defence (vote 23) and Department of Military Veterans (vote 26)
Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise and Deputy Minister, Mr Thabang Makwetla, will on Tuesday, 24 May 2022, table the 2022/23 Policy and Budget Vote for the Department of Defence (Vote 23) and the Department of Military Veterans (Vote 26).
The Department of Defence’s Budget Vote will be delivered in the context of a declining budget and increasing demands for the role of the South African National Defence Force, both domestically and externally. The Minister’s address will reflect on the department’s capacity to discharge its mandate as well as key initiatives and plans in line with its mandate. Minister Thandi Modise will also outline specific tasks that both the Chief of the SANDF and the Secretary for Defence must undertake as part of building an effective National Defence Force.
