Minister for Public Service and Administration, Senzo Mchunu, will address the International Anti-Corruption Day which is commemorated annually on Monday, 9 December under the theme: “United Against Corruption: Building a Culture of Accountability for Sustainable Development”.

The commemoration is in recognition of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which was signed in Mexico in 2003.  South Africa is one of the signatories to the Convention and ratified it in 2004.

The International Anti-Corruption Day, which will be jointly commemorated by the Public Service Commission (PSC), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the University of South Africa (UNISA) aims to raise awareness and provide an opportunity for political leaders, governments, business, legal bodies and lobby groups to join forces against corruption. All South Africans are encouraged to celebrate this day by blowing the whistle against corruption through the National Anti-Corruption Hotline (NACH): 0800 701 701.
