Minister Rob Davies to address media on South Africa–France trade relations

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, will address the media on the South Africa-France trade relations ahead of French President, HE François Hollande visit to South Africa next week.

Minister Davies will highlight the importance of HE François Hollande’s visit in relation to trade and investment and also portray South Africa as an investment destination of choice.

“Total trade between the two countries showed signs of recovery from the global economic crisis and increased from R22.7 billion in 2009 to R26.9 billion in 2012, a percentage increase of about 18.5% but have still not managed to recover to the pre-crises levels of R30.6 billion recorded in 2008”, said Minister Davies. Between January 2012 and July 2013 French companies invested in project worth R690.22 million.
