Minister Radebe to officially launch Butterworth Sexual Offences Court, Eastern Cape

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Jeff Radebe, will officially launch the Butterworth Sexual Offences Court, at Butterworth Magistrate Court on Friday, 23 August 2013 at 9h00.

Sexual offences courts are aimed at strengthening the fight against sexual violence in the country. During this financial year, 22 sexual offences courts will be set up nationally and a further 35 will be introduced over the next three years. As part of the specifications recommended by the Ministerial Task Team, each court will feature a special room for victims to testify, a private waiting room for witnesses, victim support services and specialist presiding officers.

Immediately after the launch of the court, Minister will interact with members of the community on justice services related issues.
