Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel will launch a Green Skills Hub in Alexandra, Johannesburg tomorrow.
The Green Skills Hub is aimed at promoting local economic development in Alexandra through skills development and job creation facilitation in the Green Economy.
The Industrial Development Corporation has provided R5 million for the establishment of the hub whose main functions would be to:
- provide training in the identified areas
- support and Incubate Small medium and micro enterprise (SMME) in the Green Economy
- provide business linkages within the business
- provide private sector with the skills through the placement of qualified personnel
- create an environment to support localisation of the green economy
- develop a Science Centre for research and experiments for school children
