Minister Nathi Mthethwa opens Professor Robert Sobukwe exhibition at the Kgosi Mampuru Museum, 7 Mar

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), Minister Nathi Mthethwa in partnership with the Professor Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Trust invite members of the media to the official opening of Professor Robert Sobukwe Exhibition in honour of the liberation struggle icon. The exhibition will take place on Monday, 07 March 2022 at the Kgosi Mampuru Museum in Pretoria.

Hosted as part of the 2022 Human Rights Month programme under the theme, “The Year of Unity and Renewal: Protecting and Preserving our Human Rights Gains”, the exhibition pays tribute to Professor Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe, a Pan Africanist, and a gallant fighter of the liberation struggle.

Prof. Sobukwe was a seminal voice in South Africa’s struggle for liberation. He belonged to a generation of leadership which set the highest standards of character, conduct and commitment, and placed love of Africa and her people, above all. Most significantly, Kgosi Mampuru Prison is the prison where Sobukwe was jailed for three years for inciting Africans to protest the racist pass laws.

As we commemorate 62 years since the Sharpeville-Langa Massacre that occurred on the 21st of March 1960, we pay tribute this gallant fighter, an epitome of the struggle for human rights and justice.
