The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will convene a special colloquium with over 800 youths from various campuses in Gauteng on the role of the youth in promoting the legacy of late former President Nelson Mandela.
The theme of the event is “Youth of South Africa - Our Time is Now” and will take place at the ZK Matthews Auditorium at the University of South Africa (UNISA) campus on Tuesday, 18 November 2014 from 6pm.
Minister Mthethwa will share the platform with the Minister of Sport & Recreation, Mr Fikile Mbalula. Other panelists will include Mr Roelf Meyer, Judge Yvonne Mokgoro, Ms Xoliswa Bam and, the academic Dr Somadoda Fikeni.
The National Colloquium, aptly named “Generation 2.0”, seeks to initiate a dialogue among the youth about the future of South Africa and common nationhood and thus promotes nation building and social cohesion.
The department will also host Master Classes on Music, Dance and Brand Management on 19 and 20 November 2014 in Ga-Rankuwa Community Hall and Moretele Park respectively. The facilitators of the master classes will include AKA, Naima McClean, Zandile Mzazi and Kurt Darren.
These events will precede the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day which will take place on Saturday, 22 November 2014 at the Union Buildings.
