Minister Naledi Pandor to hold an Imbizo at Elukwatini, under the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality in Mpumalanga

The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor will, next week, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 host a public participation programme (Imbizo) at Elukwatini, under the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality in Mpumalanga province.

Minister Pandor will be accompanied by the Provincial Premier, Mr David Mabuza, MEC for Finance, Mr Madala Masuku who is the Champion of the Mpumalanga Provincial Stakeholder forum, Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mr Mishack Nhlabathi, the Mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, Ms Busi Shiba and the Chairperson of Mpumalanga Provincial Stakeholder Forum, Ms Snana Dlamini.

Part of the Minister’s programme at Elukwatini, includes interaction with members of the community, as well as handing over identity documents, birth certificates and other documents to DHA clients.

Minister’s day will start with a visit to Oshoek Border Post where she will meet and interact with DHA staff members and travellers, in order to understand their challenges.

Oshoek was in the news recently, because of the arrest of Home Affairs officials who took bribes from people who wanted to come into South Africa without proper documents.

Also because of it close proximity to the Kingdom of Swaziland, Elukwatini, habours a huge number of illegal immigrants. Minister Naledi Pandor's also speak about South Africa's immigration laws.

A total of over 4 000 people are expected to attend the Imbizo.
