Minister Naledi Pandor addresses opening of HIV Research for Prevention conference, 28 Oct

The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, will deliver an address at the opening ceremony of the HIVR4P conference (HIV Research for Prevention 2014: AIDS Vaccine, Microbicide and ARV-based Prevention Science), taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 28 to 31 October 2014. HIVR4P 2014 is the world's first and only scientific meeting dedicated exclusively to biomedical HIV prevention research.

The conference is intended to serve as an opportunity for sharing and debating the latest advances and challenges in the field, and to promote critical discussions of the issues that will drive intervention-specific and comprehensive biomedical prevention research, discovery, development and implementation. Approximately 1 200 to 1 500 participants, representing researchers, clinicians, private sector partners, advocates, policy makers and public health experts are expected to attend the conference.
