Minister Naledi Pandor to address ASSAf's Humanities Conference at CSIR Convention Centre in Pretoria

The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, will deliver a keynote address at the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) Humanities Conference at 09h00 tomorrow.

The Humanities Conference takes place at the CSIR Convention Centre in Pretoria under the theme "On Being Controversial: The Humanities Reach Out – Living the World, Reading the World, Understanding the World". The theme centres on issues relating to the role of the humanities and their contribution to society, specifically to the knowledge economy.

ASSAf hopes that the conference will bridge the divide between academia and the public.

Leading international researchers and academics have been invited to participate in the conference.

Approximately 150 delegates are expected to attend the conference, including researchers, academics, politicians, students, and representatives of various non-governmental and South African institutions, as well as artists, writers and journalists.
