Minister Motshekga to address the NAPTOSA Teacher Development Institute launch

The National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA) will celebrate the launch of its Professional Development Institute (PDI) themed: “Professional Development, an Essential Element of Educator Excellence” on Tuesday, 30 July 2013 in Pretoria.

NAPTOSA, the second largest teacher union in South Africa comprising teachers, School Governing Bodies, College Councils and members of Independent Schools, believes professional development of educators to be a priority, hence the establishment of its own Professional Development Institute (PDI).

The objectives of the Institute are, among others, to provide support for teachers in achieving mastery of the Curriculum they teach, and to support the delivery of quality teaching and learning in every classroom. The Institute has already trained 6000 teachers and management team members since its inception at the beginning of the year.
