Human Settlements ministerial visit to informal settlements affected by recent fires in the City of Cape Town

The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi will visit the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape Province tomorrow, Tuesday 10 January 2023, to assess progress and interventions following fire disasters in various areas affecting informal settlements and back yard dwellings resulting in fatalities, injuries, and displacement of families.

The visit by Minister Kubayi, together with the MMC for Human Settlements in the City of Cape Town Mr Malusi Booi, will commence with a meeting to receive reports on relief efforts, ahead of conducting in-loco inspections at Masiphumelele, Khayelitsha, Phola and Dunoon Informal Settlements. There will be an opportunity for engagements with the media at the end of the site visits Phola Park Informal Settlements.
