Labour Minister Oliphant and her deputy iNkosi Holomisa to preside over opening of new Labour Centre in Mpumalanga

Labour Minister, Mildred Oliphant and Labour Deputy Minister iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa will in advancement of occupational health and safety (OHS) and service delivery officially open a new Labour Centre in Carolina, Mpumalanga Province.

The new Labour Centre was procured following concerns regarding OHS, spatial issues, and lack of information technology infrastructure.

The previous Labour Centre was a one room that previously accommodated 12 officials – it also lacked ablution facilities, had no drinking water and lack of filing space.

The Labour Centre is located in the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (Carolina, Badplaas and Elukwatini). The area has an estimated population of more than 186 000 with and estimated unemployment rate of more than 35%. Economic activity in the area is dominated by retail and farming.
