Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni receives briefing on extent of counterfeit and pirated goods in Johannesburg, 5 Aug

Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni to receive a briefing on the extent of counterfeit & pirated goods in the Johannesburg CBD

The Minister of Small Business Development will on Monday, 05 August 2019, receive a briefing on the extent of the problem with counterfeit and pirated goods in the Johannesburg CDB. She will also meet with representatives of the hawkers’ association, and conduct a walk-about of the Central Business District (CBD).

The Minister believes that the informal business sector provides a critical safety net against unemployment and poverty for society, in particular the urban poor. The intrusion of criminality (counterfeit and pirated goods) and lawlessness (attacks on law enforcement agencies) damages opportunities for all participants and stakeholders of the sector to grow and meaningfully contribute in developing South Africa and such must not be tolerated by all.

Members of the media will be afforded an opportunity to interact with the Minister.

Minister Ntshavheni will arrive at the Johannesburg Central Police Station, 1 Commissioner Street, Johannesburg at 10h00.
