Minister Carlisle to conduct walkabout at Nyanga taxi rank

Following recent reports of shootings and killings related to the taxi industry, particularly in the Nyanga area and taxi rank, there have been various concerns raised regarding safety at that rank; particularly for the many commuters who use that interchange on a daily basis.

Minister Carlisle will, tomorrow morning, be conducting a walkabout at the Nyanga taxi rank to assess the impact that this scourge of violence has had on commuters. Minister Carlisle will be discussing interventions by the Department of Transport and Public Works to address this ongoing issue.

The Minister will also be among the many commuters riding into work by taxi tomorrow morning.

  • From the N2 out of Cape Town CBD, keep left and follow signs for CT Intl’ Airport/Somerset West.
  • Take exit 18 for Borcherds Quarry Rd towards Nyanga/M22
  • Turn right into Borcherds Quarray Road
  • Continue onto Ntlangano Cres, then to Great Dutch Street
  • Turn right into Sithandatu Ave
  • Take the 1st left onto Emms Drive, Nyanga Taxi rank should be on your left.
