Minister Blade Nzimande visits Umgungundlovu TVET College Plessislaer Campus as part of monitoring Coronavirus Covid-19 readiness for phased return of students, 18 Jun

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, to visit the Umgungundlovu TVET College Plessislaer Campus to check the state of readiness for the phased return of students and staff

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, will be visiting the Umgungundlovu TVET College, Plessislaer Campus to check its state of readiness for the phased return of student at the College.

The Minister’s visit follows the commencement of COVID-19 Level 3 pronouncement by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Minister Nzimande announced a phased reopening of campus activities in the entire Post School Education and Training sector on the 23rd May 2020, and Colleges are amongst the institutions which began receiving students and employees back to campuses.

Beyond receiving students and staff back to campus, Colleges continue to play a central role in the production of COVID-19 accessories such as masks and sanitosers.  Minister Nzimande will be joined by Higher Health which amongst others will be demonstrating how the HEALTHCHECK mobile diverse works. HEALTH CHECK is a daily risk assessment tool using one’s cellphone to check their daily temperature and will link such data to the tracking system of the Department of Health.

Higher Health is also putting additional infrastructure both in the form of daily screening for all Students and Staff entering our campuses as well as additional infrastructure towards increasing essential clinical and psycho-social health services.
