Firearm Amnesty period boosted as hundreds more firearms are surrendered to Police Minister
Police Minister, General Bheki Cele will on Tuesday 14 January 2020, receive over 200 surrendered firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition. This as a Johannesburg arms dealer has taken up the call by the South African Police Service to surrender unwanted or unlicensed firearms as part of the Firearm Amnesty.
The Firearm Amnesty period commenced on the 1st of December 2019. It will run until the end of May. At this handover, Minister Cele and the National Police Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole, will also give a countrywide update on the progress of the amnesty.
