Minister Bathabile Dlamini conducts Ministerial visit in Vhembe, 6 to 7 Feb

Minister Dlamini to conduct two day Ministerial visit in Vhembe

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will conduct a two-day visit to Vhembe, Limpopo province, to interact with the community on the delivery of social services to the area.

Issues to be discussed with the community include child-headed households, poverty, disintegrated families, alcohol and substance abuse, malnutrition, gender-based violence, child neglect, the abuse and neglect of the elderly, to name a few. The objective of the interaction is to hear from the community how best government can assist in dealing with these challenges.

As part of the department’s early childhood development initiatives, the Minister will also visit the Matsila Village in Venda to distribute school uniform to children from households who, for economic reasons, cannot fully provide for their young ones. The main aim is ensuring that children do not miss out on schooling because they do not have uniform.

The two-day Ministerial visit forms part of the department’s Project Mikondzo – a service delivery improvement initiative aimed at finding new and speedier ways to meet the social needs of the poorest 1400 wards in the country as identified by Cabinet.
