Minister Angie Motshekga leads a community engagement programme to mark the commemoration of Women’s Month in Umhlathuze, KwaZulu-Natal

The Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga will on Tuesday, 22 August 2023 lead a community engagement programme to mark the commemoration of Women’s Month at Brackenham Primary School in Richards Bay in KwaZulu Natal.

This community engagement programme is in partnership with Global Fund and will include the Screening of Breaking the Silence episode on Gender-based Violence and a “Dialogue on prevention of School-related Gender-based Violence”.

The department, in partnership with provinces, other government departments and non- governmental organisations, is rolling out campaigns to raise awareness on various community and school-level challenges such as gender based violence (GBV), bullying learner pregnancy, drugs and substance abuse in schools.

Minister Motshekga will be joined at the launch by KwaZulu Natal MEC of Education Ms Mbali Frazer.
