The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga will on Wednesday 26 November 2014 handover Knysna Secondary School in Knysna, Western Cape, the seventh school to be handed over in the Western Cape as part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative, ASIDI.

The Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI) is a massive R8.2-billion public-private partnership programme and one of the Government's Strategic Infrastructure Projects (SIPs) as part of the broader Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission (PICC). ASIDI aims to replace some 510 schools in the country built from inappropriate materials.

According to the Principal of Knysna Secondary School Mr Anton Titus, “the school has recently been transformed from being an inappropriate structure to a beautiful state of the art institution, ensuring the drive from underperformance to excellence”. In 2014, the school is turning 61 years old.
