Minister Alan Winde to address membership of Western Cape’s key sectors

Alan Winde, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, will address members of the Western Cape’s key sectors on their importance in the province’s economy this afternoon (28 November 2013).

Minister Winde said the province’s leading industries, including Business Process Outsourcing, Oil and Gas and ICT, were vital contributors to the Western Cape’s Gross Domestic Product and to job creation.

The Western Cape’s biggest projects, including the Saldanha Bay Industrial Zone, the Cape Health Technology Park and the Broadband Initiative, all fall under these key sectors.

“We offer support to these industries via our Special Purpose Vehicles. These SPV’s have leveraged R3.5 billion investment into the province and currently assist more than 1 000 companies each year. Our sectors with a natural competitive advantage have the biggest potential for job creation and we are committed to encouraging their growth,” said Minister Winde.

Minister Winde said this afternoon’s event would also provide an opportunity for the various SPV’s and the Western Cape Government to share information with a view towards collaboration.
