Military Veterans hosts research and stakeholder conference, 27 to 28 Nov

The Department of Military Veterans prides itself with the vision of creating a dignified, unified, empowered and self-sufficient military veterans community. This shall be done firstly through creation of dialogue between entities that have done research on military veterans with the intent to produce an audit report on research centred on military veterans. Secondly, to share innovative ways to document, promote and conserve the country’s military history and heritage.

The focal and fundamental aim of this noble event is firstly, to deeply entrench the Department of Military Veterans as the nerve centre and custodian of military veterans’ heritage.

Secondly, to introduce the Research and Policy Unit of the Department of Military Veterans to state entities, research institutions and agencies that have been conducting separate research projects on military veterans in line with the mission of the department which is to facilitate delivery and coordinate all activities that recognise and entrench the restoration of dignity and appreciation of the contribution of military veterans to our freedom and nation building.

It is necessary to develop a system of pulling all these information together and determine what exist and what does not. Furthermore failure to centralise research efforts on the same subject will forever limit potential for gap analysis and possibly further research.
