MEC Tlhape to engage municipalities

The North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs is to engage with municipalities to discuss key issues that have direct impact on municipalities’ ability to deliver services.

The MUNMEC is a forum through which the department and municipalities are able to engage at great length on issues of local government.

The aim of the forum is to:

  •  To assess the state of readiness towards achieving the 2014 targets.
  •  To determine support mechanisms aimed at improving the standards of service delivery.
  •  To present progress on the compliance to the Municipality Systems Amendment Act of 2011 and other legislative requirements.
  • Governance and legislative compliance
  • Operation clean audit: Milestones and challenges towards Clean Audit 2014.
  • Towards universal access to basic service.

Executive Mayors, Mayors, Speakers, Chief Whips, Municipal Managers, Chief Financial Officers, Director Technical Service, Auditor General’s Office, SALGA and Provincial Treasury are expected to attend.
