As part of an ongoing effort to appreciate and bolster local talent, particularly in the music and culture industry, the Premier of Bokone Bophirima Province Mr Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo, accompanied by MEC for Department of Culture, Arts and Traditional Affairs Ms Tebogo Modise, will on Thursday, 4 December 2014 launch Mahika-Mahikeng Music and Cultural Festival here in Mahikeng.
Pronounced by the Premier during his inaugural State of the Province Address as one of the strategic platforms to be explored by his administration in sustainably growing the local economy, this high-level music and cultural festival will be an annual activity.
Mahika-Mahikeng Music and Cultural Festival is also viewed as a viable means for product, position and paradigm innovation for the creative industries sector in the Province, which is linked to the strategic vision on rebranding, repositioning and renewal of Bokone Bophirima, and the development of Mahikeng as the capital of the Arts in the country.
