KwaZulu-Natal Finance MEC, Mr Ravi Pillay who is also the MEC Champion for uMgungundlovu District, will on Tuesday the 17th of September 2019 launch the multi-planting season for uMgungundlovu district.
The district launch follows the successful provincial launch held in Jozini last Friday. The multi-million rand plating season programme aims to unlock the potential of underutilized agricultural land for food production through the provision of mechanization support and production inputs to small scale farmers.
The uMgungundlovu District launch will be held as follows:

As part of the launch, MEC Pillay will also visit a farming project run by Mrs Sibongile Khanyile, a smallholder farmer who started farming in the year 2000 as a subsistence farmer. Last year Mrs Khanyile’s crop suffered a setback due to drought and the fall armyworm. MEC Pillay will donate a water tank, fertiliser and seeds to the project.
