Gauteng Women in Sport Dialogue aims to find ways to achieve more victories for Women Sport

Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Mbali Hlophe has called for more voices especially males, condemning incidents of violence on women.

With the 4th edition of the Gauteng Women in Sport Dialogue getting underway this Saturday at the UJ Kingsway Campus, the gathering will look to reflect and discuss various issues affecting women on and off the field within sport.

Held under the theme: “Empowering the next generation of women in sport to supreme”, the dialogue among others, aims to highlight progress made and look towards further achieving more victories for the sport. It will also look at ways of ensuring women are part of the leadership and management of sport in general.

MEC Mbali Hlophe will give the keynote address and other speakers include Ria Ledwaba, Lwandile Simelane and Marteleze van Graan.

It (dialogue) comes at an opportune time in the wake of incidents of violence against women and children that have been flaring up throughout the country. Recently a female national boxing champion was killed by her boyfriend in the Eastern Cape.
