MEC Kwazi Mshengu launches employment registration App for KwaZulu-Natal qualified teachers, 12 Feb

MEC Mshengu to unveil cutting-edge employment registration app for KZN qualified teachers

Section 6(A) of the Employment of Educators Act provides that the department can receive applications of first time teacher appointees, select suitable candidates, and appoint them in vacant teacher posts where they meet the requirements in consultation with the relevant SGBs.

In order to implement this section of the Act, the Department created a web based database from which it drew suitable candidates for appointment into various vacant posts in schools. Over the years, the Department encountered numerous problems and complaints about the data base. Among others, it did not allow candidates to update information on it even when they had had further academic qualifications. It also posed a weakness of not being able to track those educators who had already been placed hence a lot of time was spent inviting candidates or offering them posts when they were already working. It also failed to pick up candidates who had registered multiple times thus causing uncertainty regarding the actual number of unemployed graduates on the data base.

The ground-breaking App will be launched the MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal Mr Kwazi Mshengu as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 12 February 2020
Time: 08h30 for 09h00
Venue: Westville Boys High School, Pinetown district.
