MEC Faith Mazibuko launches 2017 Community Games and Integrated School Holiday plan, 8 Dec

MEC Mazibuko to launch two Festive Season programmes; The 2017 Community Games and Integrated School Holiday plan, including presenting a Brand New Car  

With schools officially closing this week, the Gauteng City Region will be a scene of activity for hundreds of young people. This is as the province rolls out the integrated school holiday programme aimed at engaging young people now sitting at home looking for things to do and places to go.
 
For her portfolio MEC Faith Mazibuko joined by MMCs for Sport and Recreation in the 5 Municipalities will, this coming Friday the 8th of December, unveil an exciting programme of recreation, sport, arts and cultural activities including the annual festive community games.
 
It is now 11 years since the 2010 Soccer World Cup build-up programme that saw the department committing to supporting   community games happening in the province with resources including kits, medals, trophies, match officials and more.
 
From December 06, 2017 to early January 2018, activities including soccer, netball, fun runs, dance, theatre and film showcasing, aerobics, indigenous games and more will be on display every corner of the province.
 
Says MEC Mazibuko; “Our huge intention is to see young people and children making new friends, learning new interests, playing together and staying away from trouble”.
 
Meanwhile, MEC Mazibuko will use the same event to present the winner of the 2017 edition of the Gauteng Sport Awards vote-line competition with a brand new car. Once more one special person who cast the highest number of votes recorded overall will end the year on a high when their name is announced to the public for the first time.
