MEC Dhlomo dispatches new emergency medical vehicles

A fleet of new emergency medical services buses and rescue vehicles will be distributed throughout the Province to enhance public health service delivery. The MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo will dispatch to Districts these vehicles stationed at Wentworth Hospital Emergency Medical Services Base, of which some of the vehicles stationed at the base caused a public outcry through the media in the year 2012.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health has bought a fleet of rescue vehicles in order to assist small rural municipalities who cannot cope with calamities, particularly floods and fires that are experienced in these areas. These vehicles will also assist in situations whereby patients requiring medical rescue are entrapped and appropriate rescue of such patients is required prior to them receiving medical attention.
