MEC Capa to host Women’s Expo and stakeholder engagement events

Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Zoleka Capa will close Women’s Month in style when she hosts a Women’s Expo and Stakeholder Engagement aimed exposing women on ways and means of participating in the mainstream economic development.

Themed: “Working Together towards Sustainable Women Empowerment” – the event will see both rural and urban women engaging on how to remove barriers they face when they seek funding both in the private and public sectors.

The event seek to building strong women coalition that will bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, where linkages will be made between them while government will play a facilitating role to expose them to chances of developing their businesses.

The department will bring both private and public financial institutions to the event so that there can be direct interactions between them and women with the hope of removing the obstacles to access to funding.

Training, capacity building and development of women, especially those in rural area has taken a centre-stage in the development agenda and to this end women have been trained in construction and textile fields by the department. The trained women have also been given sewing machines and material to further advance their businesses. Women are also actively involvement and assisted in farming practices from crop to livestock improvement programmes.

The event, in the form of a three-day Expo’ will showcase the products of women, that vary from agriculture produce to traditional beaded gear as well urban gear the women sew in their attempt to improve their lives.
