MEC Capa to hand over material to farmers and poor families

Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Zoleka Capa will hand over a state-of-art sheep shearing shed to the farming community of Lotha village in the Dayimane Adminstrative Area in Dutywa on 4 December 2013. Built by the Department for more than R500 000, the shed which has modern technology equipment will assist the community which had to rely on the ailing equipment and sheds to shear the sheep.

The Department has further trained locals, mostly women, to sort the wool and this will ensure maximum profits and cut on transportation costs because farmers had to rely on private companies to have their wool sorted.

The shed will also serve as a meeting place for the farmers and it will also be the centre to market the wool and sheep. The Department hopes that the shed will be the centre of excellence in terms of helping farmers in surrounding villages.

On 5 December  MEC Capa together with Ngqushwa Municipality and Department of Social Development and Agrarian Reform will hand over groceries, vegetables and gardening tools to destitute families that have been identified by the municipalities.

The handover of the vegetables will be made possible by a group of farmers that have decided to help these poor families.

Members of the media are invited to attend this event.
