MEC Capa to celebrate milestones in livestock improvement

The Department will celebrate the milestones achieved by the government’s effort to improve the quality of livestock in the province during the launch of the new Animal Health Diploma at Tsolo College on Wednesday, 23 April 2014.

The department has over the past years committed itself to ensure the improvement of communal livestock by providing farmers with adaptable breeds for sustainable economic benefit.

The Hon MEC Zoleka Capa will handover part of 582 livestock provided by the department in the 2013/14 financial year only. Others were handed over at an event held in Fort Cox College last week.

As part of launch the landmark introduction of an accredited Animal Health Diploma at Tsolo College, the Hon MEC ill turn a sod for the construction of a vet lab that will be built at the College to assist the learners with practical studies.

The event will also create a platform for networking for farmers, business, and research and development agencies and will equip farmers on how to attain the economic benefits from their livestock with the help the department.

One of the highlights will be the introduction and official launch of Vet Mobile Clinics to fight animal diseases by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson who has donated the vehicles to the province.
