Tomorrow, Minister Winde will attend the opening of Clanwilliam’s first retail shopping centre.
The Cedar Mill Mall, which will create around 300 jobs, hit a snag early on in its development when it appeared that Eskom would not be able to supply the full amount of energy needed.
The building’s developers made the decision to install solar panels on the mall’s roof, along with a battery system to store power. This will make the centre resilient to power outages and provide energy security for its tenants.
