Mchunu called on people of KwaZulu-Natal to help fight against abuse of women and children

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu has called on the people of KwaZulu-Natal to join in the fight against the abuse of women and children. He was speaking ahead of the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against the Abuse of Women and Children.

"When we inaugurated this democratic government, we made an undertaking to put on top of the agenda, women issues. Women were at the forefront of the liberation of this country and we all remember their anti-pass marchers which mobilized the people of this country to stand firm against the apartheid government."

"We are concerned as government that although we have attained democracy, many women continue to liveƂ in fear and there are those who are sometimes subjected to the physical, emotional and sexual abuse."

"We invite the people of KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow join members of cabinet as we launch activities marking the 16 Days of Activism Against the Abuse of Women and Children."
