MACUFE 2014 starts with a bang

The 2014 MACUFE (Mangaung African Cultural Festival) kicks-off with a big bang this forthcoming weekend.

A parade will be staged on Saturday, the 4th October to officially raise the curtain for the start of a two week-long festival that promises to dazzle fun lovers, sport fanatics and cultural activists from across the country and beyond the borders. The parade will start at the popular Sechaba Chesa Nyama place in Moshoeshoe Road, Rocklands at 09h00 and proceed to the Mangaung Outdoor Sport Centre where festivities will start at 11h00.

As a taste of the fun that is to be showcased during the 2014 MACUFE programme the cultural festivities at the Mangaung Outdoor Sport Centre will include performances by music legends such as William Mthethwa and Metso. Religious ceremonies will be conducted to give blessings to the festival and embrace the 20 years of Freedom. Entrance at the venue is free of charge.

A new addition to MACUFE in 2014 is the MACUFE Rugby Match. A rugby match will be staged between Free State Cheetahs and DHL Western Province as part of the 2014 MACUFE edition. The match will be staged at the Free State stadium on the 4th October. Kick-Off is at 14h00. Tickets are available at Cheetahs Ticket Office or online: www.fscheetahs.co.za at R20.00 each for the open stand.

MACUFE Rugby Match forms part of the sport content of the 2014 edition of this festival. Other sport activations of MACUFE include MACUFE Soccer Cup which will be staged between Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs on 12 October as well as MACUFE Half Marathon and Big Walk which will be staged on 4 October.
