The long-awaited Digital Migration Regulations are finally being published to Kick-Off the Digital Migration process

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is finally publishing the Digital Migration Regulations making way for the long-awaited digital migration process.

It is the Authority's view that these regulations will go a long way in addressing what frequency allocation will be like and how multiplexes will be structured for the purposes of making sure of a smooth transition from analogue to digital broadcasting.

The Authority is simultaneously publishing the draft Promotion of Diversity and Competition on Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) regulations for public comment.

The Authority hereby invites all interested parties and the media to a press briefing where ICASA will present to the industry its decisions following extensive public consultations.

The Authority would further like to thank all stakeholders who took part in this regulation-making process that will oversee this imminent change in the television broadcasting landscape in South Africa.

The press briefing shall be held as follows:
Date: Thursday, 13 December 2012
Time: 10h00
Venue: Block C Presentation Room (ICASA Head Office), 164 Katherine Street, Sandton
