Limpopo Government hosts Batho Pele Day celebrations, 29 Nov

The Premier of Limpopo Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will lead the Executive Council to Batho Pele Day celebrations to be hold at Greater Tzaneen, Mopani District Municipality. Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will present Provincial Citizen's Report to the people of Limpopo. The objective of this day is to:

  • To report back on citizens about provision of government services and service standards;
  • To create awareness about the government services;
  • To interact with citizens with the aim of addressing their concerns; and make the complaints mechanisms accessible to citizens during the Batho Pele Day celebration; and;
  • To promote access to government services and distribute service delivery report to citizens.

Batho Pele is a Sotho word meaning "People First" which calls on public servants to put people at the centre when rendering services. Batho Pele is a government initiative that aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of government services by improving efficiency and accountability to the recipients of public goods and services.

As part of legacy projects, departments will on the day make commitment on what kind of project they will implement at Lekgwareng village. This includes projects such as agricultural projects, educational, housing, roads infrastructure aimed solely to improve the lives of the people of Lekgwareng. 

Premier Mathabatha and Members of Executive Council are expected to sign in full view of the people a pledge committing government to work hard to improve service delivery and fight corruption.

All government institutions, including SASSA, SAPS, Social Development, Health and Home Affairs will render services to the communities on the day of the event. 

Together beating the drum for service delivery because we belong, we care, we serve to make a better life for all.
