Limpopo Government and Unisa sign memorandum of understanding, 7 May

Signing of the MOU – Unisa and Limpopo Provincial Government

The University of South Africa (UNISA) and Limpopo Provincial Government will  enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the aim to develop and exchange experience and good practices in the subject of advanced research within the broad focus areas outlined in the Limpopo Development Plan(LDP) and related fields of scholarship.

The co-operation between the parties will serve common objectives and enhance the effectiveness and synergy of their activities in support of the departments with the theme “Collaborative research partnership towards the realization of Socio-economic development in the Limpopo Province”
The following are the areas of co-operation research:

  • Government priorities and Limpopo Development Plan Targets
  • Cost-effective government spending procurement towards the promotion of value for money
  • The effectiveness of government departments, public entities and municipalities service delivery models including the introduction of innovation and technology to such models.
  • Skills development
  • Investment attractiveness including innovative ways for public-private partnership
  • Scarce natural resource beneficiation
  • Environmental and climate change

“The partnership will assist to facilitate collaboration between the parties, strengthen the skills of personnel working for the departments and establish mechanism necessary to ensure effective cooperation of the parties in research, sharing of information and providing guidance”; said Professor Mandla Makhanya – Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Unisa.

The signing of the MOU is to take place as follow:
Date : Monday, 7 May 2018.
Venue : UNISA Polokwane Regional Hub, 23A Landros Mare, Polokwane.
Time: 09:00

The event will be attended by the Premier of Limpopo Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, Limpopo heads of government and other Provincial dignitaries.
