Limpopo celebrates National Children’s Day, 4 Nov

The Premier of Limpopo Province, Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his Executive Council, will celebrate National Children’s Day with the kids from Waterburg District Municipality in Modimolle Lekkerbreek Primary School on the 4th of November 2017. The 1st Saturday of November has been declared as National Children’s Day. The government has made a commitment to observe and honour this day in recognition of its children as the future.

The main objectives of celebrating National Children’s Day are:

  • To create awareness and educate masses about the plight of children and ways of dealing with them.
  • To ensure that children are not exploded and abused.
  • To give a practical meaning to pronouncements on children’s rights as enunciated by the President and the Premier.
  • To afford key stakeholders an opportunity to celebrate the 22 years off democracy and to strategise for the next ten by highlighting issues which need attention for the promotion of children’s rights.

This year’s National Children’s Day celebration is targeting 1000 people within the child rights sector. In celebrating this day, different departments such as Home Affairs, Health, Social Development, SASSA, SAPS and Education will also be in attendance to provide information about services they offer.
