The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development in Limpopo will on 18th December 2019 embark on a media tour with a view to assess progress and accountability to funded land reform farms.
As part of government support aimed at assisting distressed land reform farms which were restituted since 1994, the Ba Phalaborwa Ba-Selwane Community has received R22 million in January 2019 to improve productivity in its restituted farms.
The Department has already spent R147, 719, 201.52 million in grant funding of which a sizeable number of restitution projects has benefited during the current financial year.
The media tour is organized to provide an insight into the utilization of the allocated funding and the overall operations of the restituted land in achieving the expected levels of productivity to ensure the ongoing success of the land reform programme.
The ultimate aim of providing support to land reform projects is to contribute towards creating active, sustainable rural communities that have access to healthy food and decent employment opportunities.
Transport will be provided upon request due to limited space.
