You are cordially invited to the launch of the cidb best practice standards by the Minister of Public Works, Minister Thembelani Nxesi on 26 November, 2013 in Pretoria at the Manhattan Hotel (247 Scheiding Street).
The standards mark the beginning of Phase 2 of the cidb Register of Projects and the Register of Contractors. They are set in terms of the Construction Industry Development Board Act no 38 of 2000, which requires the cidb to establish the Best Practice Project Assessment Scheme and the Best Practice Contractor Recognition Scheme. The standards set a benchmark for development, including construction quality, skills and contractor development.
In support of the cidb Standard for Developing Skills through Infrastructure Contracts, the cidb conducted a pilot Employment Skills Development Agency (ESDA). The ESDA provided for the provision of workplace opportunities for young graduates, artisans and professional candidacy.
The launch of the cidb Standards on 26 November will also include award of certificates to the 22 learners who participated in this pilot project.
