Labour conducts high level inspection in Agriculture and Sawmill Industries, 13 Mar

The Department of Labour will send a high level delegation to participate in a blitz inspection in the George and Uniondale areas this week. The Director-General Thobile Lamati, together with members of the executive, will accompany labour inspectors on their inspections in the agricultural and sawmill industries.

This high level inspection will round off a full week of inspections and advocacy sessions conducted by the Department of Labour in the Southern Cape.

It is expected that the areas to be covered during inspections will include Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the workplace, compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), as well as an audit of the Unemployment Insurance Fund status of the businesses visited.

Members of the media are invited to attend the site inspections.
