KwaZulu-Natal Health launches mobile hospital truck in Molweni, 28 Nov

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend and report on the launch of the Primary Healthcare Mobile Hospital to take place at Molweni on Friday, 28 November 2014. The launch ceremony and presentation of the Mobile will happen at the Molweni Community Hall at 09h00.

The arrival of this much needed Mobile Primary Healthcare Hospital will have a far-reaching and positive impact on many people’s lives living in impoverished areas of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Through these Mobile Hospitals, which are able to traverse the mountains and valleys throughout the province, the department intends providing access to quality health care to communities in informal settlements; in the farms as well as pension pay points.

At the Molweni area, where the Mobile will be docked for three weeks, areas that will be served include Lower Molweni, Nogxaza and Madumeni.

The Mobile Hospital comes with qualified personnel and is equipped to offer a full comprehensive Primary Health Care [PHC] Package with state of art medical equipment like as X-ray Machine, Ultrasound Machine, B/P and Blood Sugar Machine as well as 3 consulting rooms, amongst other features.

Alongside this Mobile Hospital, there is also a separate Truck that will always be attached with four consulting rooms consisting of a Diathermy machine and other equipment for performing Medical Male Circumcision (MMC) procedures.

During the launch, both the KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and the KwaZulu-Natal Head of Department Dr Sibongile Zungu will be available to conduct media interviews on request.

Members of the media will also have an opportunity to undergo health screening.
