Kha Ri Gude volunteer educators and learners are awarded for their hard work

The Department of Basic Education will host a ceremony for the volunteer educators and learners of on their successful completion of the Kha Ri Gude mass literacy campaign. The Kha Ri Gude will award certificates to the Limpopo class of 2012 on Thursday, 28 November 2013 in Mahwelereng in the Mogalakwena local municipality, Limpopo.

The Kha Ri Gude Mass Literacy campaign was launched in February 2008, with the intention of enabling 4,7 million adults above the age of 15 years to become literate and numerate in one of the eleven official languages. The theme of the programme is “Advancing the Pledge to Educate the nation”.

Some of the guest will include stakeholders from the partners of the programme, the Mayor Mogalakwena Local Municipality and members of the parliament portfolio committee on education.   

The campaign materials for Kha Ri Gude are designed to teach reading, writing and numeracy and integrate themes and life skills such as health, gender, the environment and civic education. These materials have been adapted for use in Braille in eleven languages, and for use by the deaf.
