Justice Department and eThekweni Municipality to host a gender-based violence drive

Following the highest rate of violence against Women and Children in KwaZulu-Natal, the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in partnership with the eThekweni Municipality will host a campaign to empower and educate community members about government’s preventative measures to fight the scourge of gender-based violence in our society.

This will take place on Saturday, 7 December 2013 at the Bay of Plenty Lawns in Durban.

The campaign will be held under the theme “Violence against Women and Children is everybody’s business”.

Accordingly, the campaign seeks to stress the importance of partnerships between government and civil society in eradicating women and child abuse and to provide victims and survivors of violence with information about legislative services and other mechanisms to ameliorate the impact of violence.
